VOTEFEST
Democracy Is a Participation Sport
VOTEFEST is Queens Says No Kings’ voter engagement and democracy protection initiative.
At its core, VOTEFEST exists to increase voter participation, strengthen democratic institutions, and protect the fundamental right to vote. We believe democracy works best when people are informed, engaged, organized, and prepared to participate.
VOTEFEST takes a comprehensive approach to that mission. Rather than focusing on a single issue or activity, we bring together voter registration, voter education, voting plans, election protection, volunteer recruitment, community organizing, coalition building, and public engagement under one umbrella.
Music, art, performances, and community activities help bring people together, but they are not the end goal. They are tools for building relationships, expanding participation, and reaching people who might not otherwise become involved.
What VOTEFEST Does
VOTEFEST supports democratic participation before, during, and after Election Day.
Our work includes:
- Voter registration and voter education
- Developing voting plans and turnout strategies
- Assisting seniors and people with disabilities in accessing the ballot
- Recruiting, training, and deploying election protection volunteers
- Educating voters about their rights
- Building networks of volunteers prepared to respond when voting access is threatened
- Connecting community organizations working toward shared democratic goals
- Using art, music, and culture to make civic participation visible, accessible, and welcoming
Why VOTEFEST
Too often, civic engagement is treated as something that happens only during election season.
VOTEFEST takes a different approach. We work to build an ongoing culture of participation—one that encourages people not only to vote, but also to volunteer, organize, educate, advocate, and help protect the democratic process itself.
Democracy is not a spectator sport. It depends on people showing up.
